You know what they say about the weather in Ireland? If you don’t like it, just give it five minutes! It’s true, the weather here can be quite unpredictable, and we’ve seen some dramatic shifts over the past year. Luckily our guests know when their booking their accommodation in Ireland to come prepared with sunblock and raincoats!
Gardening here has become a race against the elements, with quick dashes to weed between showers or struggling to find the right time to plant new seedlings when the sun is splitting the sky. It’s all good fun and the results are worth it, even for this novice! I just love having flowers in the garden. They make me smile.
At Rossclare Lodge, we’re always looking for ways to enhance our guests’ experience and we like to shake things up a bit. Many of our guests comment on all the flowers in the garden, and this is something we want you to enjoy, whatever the weather. That’s where our Geodome comes in! This unique structure, made with hexagonal polycarbonate panels, offers a 360-degree view of the garden come rain or shine. It took an entire day to put it together (and we didn’t file for divorce!) and now it’s the perfect spot to admire the flowers, watch the sunset, stargaze in comfort or enjoy your sharing platter for supper.
Picture yourself relaxing on the cosy sofa, gazing up at the twinkling constellations through the clear roof. Located in a dark skies area, far from the light pollution of Enniskillen, our dome offers great stargazing opportunities. And on cloudy nights our solar powered twinkly lights add a romantic touch to the evening.
The Geodome comfortably seats six and includes a low table, making it ideal for our sharing platters in the evenings or afternoon teas. Since completing it our guests have enjoyed quiet evenings with their byo wine, or tea and cookies, or lively conversations with fellow visitors. The dome’s excellent soundproofing ensures there’s no disturbance to the main house too.
We’re confident you’ll love the Geodome as much as we do. Enjoy the stunning views of the flowers in the garden, the cows on the hill, the robin bossing all the other birds and watch Basil the dog having zoomies through the flower beds, or laugh at the chickens’ antics. And don’t worry about the rain—we’ve got a big umbrella in the hall, so we’ve got you covered as you make your way to the dome in a shower!
