What the sat-nav doesn’t tell you!
From Dublin
Total driving time 2hrs 25mins
Follow the signs to Cavan and join the M3. There are tolls on the motorway, but it won’t break the bank and is the most direct route. you do need euros in change or use a card. Stay on the M3 and follow signs to Enniskillen.
You’ll leave the M3 and join the N3. Keep following signs to Enniskillen and you’ll join the A509. When you reach Enniskillen follow the signs for the A47 / Omagh /Irvinestown.
Now there are plenty of roundabouts! As you leave the town, the library will be on your right and the PSNI station on your left. Take the first exit off the roundabout and drive past the South West college.
At the next roundabout take the first exit and you’ll soon see a big hospital on your left. Go straight on at the hospital roundabout. Take the first exit off the next roundabout at Trory to stay on the A47. There’s a petrol station on your left and the other exit will take you to Irvinestown. Don’t go that way!
Go past Enniskillen airport on the left and Balcas on the right. Keep going through Ballycassidy, soon you’ll drive past the Manor House Hotel on your right. You can’t miss it, it’s huge!
Now, slow down a little, even though the speed limit increases. You’ll pass a church on the right and a sign for Tickety-Moo on the left, and a layby with a view through the trees of the lough on the left. Just ahead of this is Valley Road on the left, with a brown sign for Inishclare cottages at the end of the road.
urn into Valley Road and you’ll see a big house left ahead. This is Rossclare Lodge. Turn in at the gate and either park in the single space in front of the house or drive round to the back and park by the wall.
From Belfast International airport
Via the M1 and A4 – approx driving time 1hr 55mins
Exit the airport and turn right at the mini roundabout. Keep straight on at the next roundabout. At Nutts Corner roundabout, take the 4th exit to Moira. (A26) You’ll merge onto the M1. Now just keep going!
Eventually the M1 becomes the A4. Now keep an eye on the signs for Enniskillen and you’ll be fine! You’ll drive through Augher, Clogher and Fivemiletown. If your satnav tries to tell you otherwise, ignore it! It’s trying to take you across country – not good. Stay on the A4 all the way.
Now you’ll pass through Tamlaght and Lisbellaw and you’ll drive past the Killyhevlin hotel on your left. When you glimpse a big Tesco store up ahead on the left, get into the outside lane at the traffic lights, to turn right. The Belmore Court motel will be on your left as you turn and approach another set of traffic lights. Go straight on here on the B80. This avoids traffic in the town centre, using the link road.
At the next roundabout take the first exit. You are now on the Cherrymount link road – more roundabouts to navigate! At the next three roundabouts, go straight on, staying on the link road. Now you’ll reach the bigger roundabout with the Donnelly Group car sales on your left. Take the third exit off this roundabout to join the Irvinestown road A47.

From Donegal
Approx travel time 42 mins via R232
Leave Donegal town on the R267. At Laghey turn left onto the R232 and stay on this road.
At Tullyearl roundabout take the second exit onto the N15. Now stay on this road all the way to Pettigo, which is where you cross the border. At the junction in Pettigo turn right and then immediately left, with a pub on your right.
You’ll probably not even notice, but remember the speed limits are now shown in MPH . This is now the A35. You’ll pass a Spar/petrol station on your left at Letterkeen. When you reach Kesh, take care at the mini roundabouts. Go straight on at the first one – old abandoned hotel on your left, and at the next roundabout take the 2nd exit (straight on), past the shops.
Stay on this road. Now you’ll go through Lisnarick with Tullana on the Green restaurant and another petrol station/Spar on the left. Pass the signs for Castle Archdale (right).
Continue along the road, but watch your speed now as you’ll soon be there and the turning is over the brow of a hill on the right. You’ll pass the lefthand turn to Irvinestown and a brown sign to Bonnieview B&B. The next right turn is Valley Road. The brown sign for Inishclare holiday cottages will be visible on the corner and you’ll see a large house on the left. This is Rossclare Lodge. The first house on the left. Turn in at the gates. You can either park in the single parking space in front of the house, or drive round to the back and park by the P signs along the back wall.
From Derry/Londonderry
Travel time 1hr 18mins via the A5
From the centre, follow signs to the A5 and stay on this road to Killyclogher. At Killyclogher follow signs to A32 to Dromore and Irvinestown.
When you reach Irvinestown you’ll come to a mini roundabout. Take the first exit and you’ll pass Centra supermarket on your left. At the next mini roundabout, take the 2nd exit (right), and you’ll see Mahon’s hotel on your right.
At the next junction, which is at the top of the high street and has a great floral display usually, you’ll need to bear left, past Maguire’s butchers, with Gordon’s chemist on the right. Don’t take the left turn before the main junction – this goes to Necarne Castle.
Follow the road, past the church on the left and the primary school on the right. A little further you’ll turn left and stay on this road all the way to the end. At the junction, turn left and then almost immediately right into Valley Road. Rossclare Lodge is the first house on the left. You can’t miss it! Drive through the wrought iron gates and park at the front or drive round to the back and park by the wall. Just follow the blue P signs.
Come to the front door, which is red and labelled “reception”.
