The Art of the “Slow Road Trip”

Why Fermanagh is Your Perfect Irish Base

For many of our overseas guests, a trip to Ireland is a long-awaited dream. With two or three weeks to explore the island, the temptation is to stay in a different town every night. However, the secret to a truly memorable Irish odyssey isn’t found in a suitcase—it’s found in staying put. We invite you to ditch the unending road trip, unpack once and use our sanctuary as your hub for exploring the local and not-so-local attractions.

Your Gateway to the North West and Beyond

While our guests love the local treasures like the Cuilcagh Boardwalk, Florence Court and Belleek, Rossclare Lodge is also the perfect “jump-off” point for some of Ireland’s most iconic day trips. Within 60 to 90 minutes, you can experience a completely different side of the island:

  • The Wild Atlantic Way (Donegal): Within 45 minutes, you can be standing on the breathtaking beaches of Donegal, watching the Atlantic rollers come in.
  • The Historic Walled City (Derry~Londonderry): A scenic drive north takes you to one of the finest walled cities in Europe, rich with history and vibrant culture.
  • The Poetry of Sligo: Head west to see the majestic Benbulbin mountain and the landscapes that inspired W.B. Yeats.

We Handle the Logistics, You Handle the Memories

We know that when you are on a 21-day road trip, the “chores” of travel can eat into your holiday. That is where our care for your comfort comes in.

1. Our “Fresh Start” Laundry Service Don’t spend your precious holiday time searching for a laundromat. Simply leave your laundry with us, and we will take care of it. It means you can pack lighter, save suitcase space for souvenirs, and always have a fresh outfit ready for your next adventure.

2. Picnic Hampers for the Great Outdoors Ireland’s natural heritage is best enjoyed with a view, not from inside a crowded cafe. We can prepare a bespoke Rossclare Picnic Hamper for your day trip. Whether you are heading to the ruins of Tully Castle or the cliffs of Donegal, you’ll have a delicious lunch ready to enjoy wherever you find that perfect spot.

3. A “Welcome Home” Every Evening There is nothing quite like the feeling of returning to a familiar place after a day of exploring. Imagine coming home, watching the sunset, or enjoying a Sharing Platter in the Geodome. No check-ins, no new keys, just the peace of the Lough.

Extend Your Stay and Save

By booking a longer stay (3, 5, or 7 nights), you allow yourself the luxury of a “rest day”—a morning to enjoy our hens’ fresh eggs at a leisurely pace, or an afternoon in the Geodome with a book, before hitting the road again. And we have special rates for longer stays too! Just message us when booking.
