Castle Irvine

Head to Irvinestown and discover local history

Castle Irvine is a remarkable historical landmark located in the charming town of Irvinestown just minutes from Rossclare Lodge. This fascinating castle has a rich history that dates back to the 17th century. It has been a significant part of the local community ever since. It’s now the home of a rich variety of equestrian events with stables and the walled garden paddock.

One of the most interesting aspects of Irvine Castle is its rich history. Originally built in the 1600s, the castle played a significant role in the political and social life of the area. It was home to several prominent families over the years, including the Irvine family, who were instrumental in the castle’s construction.

Drama and Intrigue

Over the centuries, Irvine Castle has seen its fair share of drama and intrigue. It was involved in many of the major historical events of Northern Ireland. These include the 1641 Rebellion and the Williamite Wars of the late 1600s. Although the castle itself has fallen into disrepair over recent years, the site offers superb walks and is dog friendly.

Cars and Horses

Castle Irvine is home now to the Classic Car Show in October and the September Motor Trials. It was also the chosen venue for the 2023 All Ireland Carriage Driving Championships.

Events throughout the year include show-jumping, dressage, pony club events, point to point and the Fermanagh County Show. The latter is a weekend event not to be missed and we are always full way in advance! The Enniskillen Horse and Pony Show also takes place on two dates in November.
